SEAN MORRIS, piano instructor and music educator
I earned a master of music (M.Mus.) degree from Kent State University, and a bachelor of music (B.Mus.) degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I was awarded the 2010 division achievement award in piano pedagogy and organ/harpsichord, and selected as winner of the Clara Rolland piano competition and scholarship. Teaching group piano classes at Kent State University on a graduate teaching assistantship, and acceptance into summer music institutes in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, and historic Vienna in Austria are invaluable experiences I have the privilege of passing on to developing musicians in order to foster their growth in musicianship and expand their musical horizons. I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and its local affiliate, the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA).
Tuition covers a step-by-step progressive approach to achieving artistic expression and technical excellence at the piano, adapted to the particular learning style, strengths, and interests of the individual student. Instruction includes traditional and innovative approaches to teaching classical keyboard technique and literature, as well as focused training in music fundamentals, music theory, music history, sight-reading, and improvisation/composition. All ages are welcome, and a patient respect for the student and an enthusiastic commitment to their potential is warmly nurtured for their development of lifelong musical appreciation and expression.
